Season One

After the huge success of the Persona 4 video game, an Anime adaption was announced in 2010. The series began airing in late 2011 on a weekly basis and received overwhelming critical acclaim as well as great viewership numbers.

Season Two

The second season was confirmed in late 2011. The second season features an exclusive new opening and began airing on November 23 with two episodes back-to-back. The second season was universally acclaimed and rewarded with phenomenal viewership numbers.

Season Three

A third season was confirmed in May 2013. After the Persona 4 remake was released, the Anime developers stated that they were looking into "exciting possibilities to continue the Persona 4 phenomenon". In December 2013, it was announced that the third season would enhance the Persona 4 universe with additional storylines that were already featured in Persona 4: Golden.

The third season premiered on July 10, 2014 and was met with mixed reception.

Future

On September 25, 2014, Jun Kumagai announced his departure from the Persona Anime after lengthy talks about a continuation.  In December 2016, an Anime adaptation of Persona 5 was announced, set to air in summer 2017. It will feature a new setting and a new cast of characters.
